ParticipantThis is my go to modality. I use goal setting with my students. I need to work on getting them to identify their strengths rather than pointing them out. I will use the miracle question to ask them to generate a scenario where the problem is solved. Having more one on one time with students will allow me to practice more intentionality.

ParticipantI need to make sure to slow down and really express empathy for what the student is feeling in the moment. I have a great rapport with the students in my little school, but in the hustle and bustle of the school day, I sometimes get rushed and forget to be intentional in my practice. Instead of providing reasons for the student to change, I need to take the time to help them talk themselves into change based on their values. I will implement value surveys at the beginning of the year.

ParticipantI use CBT all of the time to modify student behavior. I model expected behavior, use role play use behavior charts and positive reinforcement for appropriate behavior and prompt students to exhibit appropriate behavior. I could be more intentional in my practice. I will print some visuals from the course resources to remind me to hit all three components.

ParticipantAll students can be taught that all feelings are ok. Students can be taught that they can acknowledge their feelings without becoming their feelings. I would ask teachers to reinforce these ideas in morning meeting and teach students mindfulness techniques and give value assessments during counseling lessons.
